Role DescriptionThe Service Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based at Kent's Harley-Davidson in Abilene, TX. In this role, the technician performs routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, following manufacturer specifications and shop procedures. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing service tickets, and documenting work performed. The technician interacts with service advisors and customers to explain findings, recommend services, and ensure a positive service experience.
The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work environment, using appropriate tools and equipment, and staying current with Harley-Davidson service updates and best practices.
- Strong Maintenance & Repair skills, including routine service and mechanical work on motorcycles.
- Ability to perform accurate Troubleshooting and Diagnostics for mechanical, electrical, and performance issues.
- Experience with Field Service or shop-based service work, including working efficiently in a service bay environment.
- Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, explain technical issues, and support a positive customer experience.
- General Maintenance skills, including use of hand and power tools, following safety procedures, and adhering to service standards.
- Prior experience as a motorcycle, automotive, or powersports technician is preferred.
- Relevant technical certification or vocational training in motorcycle or automotive technology is beneficial.
- Ability to lift and move parts and equipment as needed and stand for extended periods.
- Interest in or familiarity with Harley-Davidson motorcycles and culture is a plus.
