Job Title: Head Lifeguard – Adventure Cove

Employment Status: Part‑Time (Non‑Exempt)

Position Summary

The Head Lifeguard position is responsible for the safety of all guests in and near the pool area and for providing direction to lifeguards on shift to maintain safety and wellness of guests and team members alike.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Enforcing all pool rules
  • Preventing injuries and minimizing hazardous situations
  • Providing patron surveillance whenever a patron is swimming
  • Providing effective leadership and direction to lifeguards
  • Ensuring lifeguard staffing, coverage and job duties are compliant with all required standards & regulations
  • Instructing various ages in water safety and other aquatic programming
  • Assigning cleaning duties
  • Attending in‑service training as scheduled
  • Assisting with conducting aquatics safety audits and reporting
  • Assisting with executing birthday parties and private events
  • Assisting the Aquatics Manager in training, supervising, and evaluating lifeguards
  • Creating weekly work and station rotation schedules for Aquatics Team Members
  • Supervising the daily cleaning and maintenance of all aquatic areas
  • Helping train and evaluate swim lesson instructors
  • Helping train and evaluate water aerobics instructors
  • Supervising chlorine/ph levels for the pools (ensuring chemicals meet Health Department and manufacturer standards)
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Additional tasks assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification
  • Experience in customer service, leadership, and team building
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Employee may work in outside weather conditions
  • Exposed to outside temperatures ranging from 80‑105 degrees
  • Perform duties in direct sunlight, hot, wet, and humid conditions
  • Exposed to cleaning chemicals that must be handled with extreme caution
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist high
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time whether indoors or outdoors, and squat, stoop, bend, carry, lift, pull, and push
  • Facility has intermittent noise
