About the Position
The English Department is seeking a motivated and dependable student worker to operate the Department’s Instagram account. This position provides an opportunity to gain professional experience while contributing to the success of our department and the university community.
Primary ResponsibilitiesOperate the English Department’s official Instagram account. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Curate followers
- Engage professionally with other McMurry University Instagram accounts and other appropriate accounts/followers
- Create content (2-3 posts or stories per week)
- Attend events as needed to create content (English Club meetings/events; film screenings; special guest lectures; etc.)
- Advertise the English Department faculty (accolades; publications; courses; etc.)
- Research and hone social media engagement skills
- Coordinate weekly work with Dr. Wren
- Keep a weekly timesheet
Required:
- Currently enrolled as a student at McMurry University
- Pursuing either a Bachelor’s Degree or Minor in the English Department
- Be classified as either a Junior or Senior student
- Good academic standing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic social media proficiency
- Ability to maintain professionalism
- Reliable and detail-oriented
- Flexible work schedule around class commitments
- Professional development opportunities
- Hands-on experience in a university environment
- Networking opportunities with faculty and staff
- Enhancement of resume and transferable workplace skills
