CDL Truck Driver – Primoris Heavy Civil – Abilene, TX
Primoris Heavy Civil is currently searching for CDL A Drivers for our Abilene, TX project. Must be able to operate various trucks: concrete mixers, dump trucks, water trucks, etc., which are used to move equipment or other materials. Responsible for safely operating CDL A vehicles to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from highway construction sites. Ensures compliance with DOT regulations, performs routine vehicle inspections, and supports construction crews as needed.
Job DescriptionOperate water trucks, concrete mixers, and dump trucks to transport paving materials, construction supplies, dirt, water, or garbage to and from various locations. Drive trucks equipped with open beds that allow for the transportation of dirt, rocks, sand, coal, or gravel.
Functional Requirements- CDL required Class A, 10‑speed manual transmission, Tanker Endorsement
- DOT drug screen/physical.
- Driver must be in DOT compliance at all times.
- Must be registered DACH.
- Move hand and foot levers to control operating equipment.
- Interpret hand signals to determine where materials are to be placed.
- Assemble or disassemble equipment or material on construction projects.
- Manipulate equipment on uneven working surfaces.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, water and all fluids and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Inspect material to ensure it has been loaded correctly and is secure and review shipping documents to verify all information is accurate.
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (Commercial Driver Licenses).
- Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of individuals or others in the workplace.
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.).
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.).
- Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol abuse policy.
- Must be able to pass physical examination, pre‑employment if necessary, and as required by the company.
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Able to carry 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
