Overview
The Landfill Stationary Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of stationary equipment at a landfill, recycling facility, hauling/collections location or transfer station to transfer, load and/or compact waste efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment in accordance with Company policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader, sweeper or baler and other stationary equipment using proper safety standards.
- Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste; identify and deposit waste into appropriate piles and stock baled trash.
- Load transfer trucks with a front-end loader and ensure full capacity by packing down waste with the bucket; regulate tonnage into the transfer trailer.
- Continuously observe packed waste for hazards, including smoldering or fire; monitor equipment condition to remain operationally ready and minimize downtime.
- Clean tracks or wheels on equipment as needed and perform minor service on equipment; refer more complex mechanical issues to Maintenance Shop for repair.
- Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary reports; report any required repairs to the supervisor as needed.
- Follow all required safety policies and procedures and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Valid certificate(s) of training and applicable licenses for operation of equipment, as required.
- Good customer service skills; professional, courteous and cooperative demeanor toward customers and co-workers; honesty and trustworthiness in performance.
- Good time management skills to complete responsibilities efficiently and safely.
- Strong follow-through ability; adherence to work schedules and proactive handling of challenges.
- Ability to adhere to Company policies and safety standards; willingness to avoid unnecessary risks.
- Maintains pride in work and strives to achieve goals.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in stationary equipment operation.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
