We are looking for a Residential Support Worker to join the team in Abingdon. The salary starts at £25,500 depending on experience and the role offers many rewards.

About the serviceThe service is a small residential home supporting children and young people aged 5–18 with complex additional needs. It provides a warm, stable, and supportive setting where young people are encouraged to learn, develop, and experience positive opportunities that help shape a brighter future. You’ll work as part of a dedicated team focused on improving outcomes by providing safe, stable, and caring homes where young people can thrive.
Whatyou’ll be supported with
- Structured induction and ongoing professional development
- Regular supervision and appraisal processes
- Specialist training opportunities
- Support to achieve leadership and management qualifications (where appropriate)
- Lead and support care planning, including assessing, reviewing, and managing risk
- Coordinate responsibilities within the service and work alongside multi-agency professionals
- Produce clear written reports and attend professional meetings, including reviews and court-related work
- Support young people through challenging situations with resilience and consistency
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience working in a care or residential setting with children or young people
- The ability to build positive relationships based on trust and consistency
- Strong communication skills when working with young people, families, and professionals
- A solution-focused and team-oriented approach
- Emotional resilience and confidence in a challenging but rewarding environment
- A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to achieve this within two years
- 29 days annual leave PLUS bank holidays, with up to 5 additional days for continuous service
