Job Duties

Perform casino procedure observations, compliance inspections and investigations to ensure casino operators’ continuous compliance with applicable state laws and regulations and VA Lottery approved casino operators’ policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

  • Executing compliance reviews defined in the Compliance Plan, including observation of casino procedures in critical areas such as Slots, Table Games, Poker, Retail Sports book, Key Watcher, Surveillance, Cage, Drop and Count.
  • Assisting in the Gaming Compliance Department’s efforts to ensure continued adherence to casino internal controls, property rules, regulations and procedures and any other governing regulations or directives.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as receiving casino patron complaints and reporting to the CCS, obtaining fingerprints of casino employees for licensing, delivering badges to the property’s HR department, and assisting individuals signing up for the Virginia Exclusion Program.
  • Assisting in investigations as directed by the CCS and reviewing casino submissions such as Internal Controls, SOPs and Rules of the Games.
  • Preparing status reports, statistical information, and written reports after investigating incidents.
  • Making operational, system, or policy recommendations to the Casino Compliance Supervisor.
  • Maintaining proficiency in assigned databases and resources, researching data, and compiling findings for investigative and administrative inquiries.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Two or more years of experience in administrative or investigative work or one year of casino experience (preferably in Casino Gaming Operations, casino compliance or regulatory investigations).

Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing casino gaming.

Knowledge of advanced investigative principles and techniques.

Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

Ability to build effective working relationships with diverse groups and officials.

Proficiency in desktop applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and automated databases.

Ability to clearly document investigative findings, prepare management reports and make logical, sound decisions in critical, complex and changing situations.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and competing tasks and meet deadlines.

Ability to maintain integrity, persuasiveness and diplomacy in discussing controversial subject matter.

Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving history.

Must complete background investigation.

  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken relative to casino regulatory requirements for the Virginia Lottery and casino operations.
  • Perform assigned duties at a satisfactory level.
  • Ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks and investigations.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Eligible for shift differentials.
  • Exposure to second‑hand smoke and intoxicated or unruly individuals.
  • Essential to the continuity of operations; may be required to remain onsite during declared emergencies.
