Thames Valley Police invites former officers to re‑join. Qualified candidates must meet the eligibility criteria below.

• Previously completed your probationary period and have been confirmed as a substantive at the rank to which you are applying.
• Live within 40 road miles and a 1‑hour commute of two of our main police stations upon formal offer of appointment.
• Hold a full UK driver's licence (manual or automatic).
• Previously worked at a Home Office force, Channel Islands or Isle of Man Police.
• Potential changes regarding transfer from British Transport Police (BTP) or Ministry of Defence Police – please email to be added to the list (no timeframe outlined).

We are recruiting ICR officers who wish to be posted to Local Command Units (LCUs). The areas offer a mix of urban and rural work and provide opportunities to develop your career and attend major events in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire & Oxfordshire.

As a Detective Constable you will manage and conduct complex investigations from initial crime‑scene management to court. Duties include interviewing suspects, identifying witnesses, handling forensic evidence, preparing case papers, attending court, and serving as the point of contact for victims of crime. Partnership with social care, health teams, schools and uniformed colleagues is essential for building strong cases and achieving justice.

All re‑joiners who left less than 3 years ago attend a three‑week induction course at the Police Training Centre in Sulhamstead. Those who left more than 3 years ago attend a seven‑week course. Probationary periods and support during training are provided as per regulations. Accommodation is available for those who live outside the posting policy during induction.
