SUMMARY
Effectively and efficiently program, set up, and operate multiple CNC and mechanical machinery including lathes, mills, and brake presses. Operate reamers, saws, milling machines, forming press, flattening press, drill press, and punch press and other machines and equipment in repetitive-type machining of various product components. Perform ordinary setups and adjustments. The machinist will be responsible for all programming, set ups, and general attributes of CNC and mechanical machining processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Possess the ability to read and interpret complex to simple drawings.
- Must be able to solely write, modify, and interpret CNC programs; create and fabricate custom jigs and setups as needed.
- Must be able to set up and run mechanical equipment such as lathes, mills, punch presses and other mechanical equipment.
- Perform precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, veneer height gauges, pluggages, and other measuring instruments.
- Must follow and observe all safety rules and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Produce a quality product in reference to supplied drawings.
- Must possess extensive experience with carbide and high speed tooling, and fabricate custom tooling when needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEQualified candidates should possess an Associate’s Degree or trade certification in CNC machining or possess equivalent experience (3-5 years) in the programming and operation of CNC and mechanical machining processes. Other combinations of experience and education which meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and comprehend blueprints, instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
MATH SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and perform trigonometric and geometric calculations.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Must be able to work in a team environment and participate, contribute and support all team activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for the entire shift. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, dirt, oil, grease, metal shavings, and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat and there is always the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud with exposures ranging from 80 dB to more than 100 dB at certain times.
Specified safety equipment shall be used at all times while operating equipment or performing tasks within this position. Shift and hours are variable due to machine breakdowns and projects.
