Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
The Role
Every day, our team works the magic of distillation, extraction, winterization, and production of our premium cannabis products. As a Production & Laboratory Supervisor, you will work closely on the lab floor, enforcing safety and security regulations, maintaining equipment, keeping detailed records, and ensuring overall quality and inventory integrity. You will be a hands‑on leader who motivates, organizes, and rallies the team to achieve the highest standards and produce safe, compliant products.
Responsibilities- Supervise the laboratory production operations of infused and extraction products.
- Lead production employees to perform proficiently, providing motivation through personal example and interpersonal skills.
- Support leadership in maintaining high standards of quality by managing documents, developing programs, and performing laboratory testing.
- Employ critical thinking and problem‑solving to identify inefficiencies or productivity issues and suggest improvements.
- Maintain compliance with all state laws and regulations affecting operations and safety, and promote safety policies and awareness among employees.
- Complete scheduling, training, onboarding, performance reviews, and related administrative duties. Set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments, monitor experiments, record observations, and notify the Operations Manager of any deviations.
- Follow SOPs and standard analytical procedures to meet Good Laboratory Practices and Good Manufacturing Practices compliance requirements.
- Support documentation of lab standards, inventory management, Chemical Hygiene Policy, labeling, and other SOPs as assigned.
- Work with hazardous chemicals and report unsafe equipment, conditions, or practices to prevent incidents.
- Maintain the facility’s hygiene, organization, and overall appearance.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Laboratory experience or a degree in Life Sciences preferred.
- At least 2 years of work experience in analysis, food manufacturing, or a production environment.
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for hazardous chemicals.
- Background in cannabis extraction or distillation highly desirable, but not required.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts such as Kaizen and Gemba Walks.
- Proficiency with standard office equipment, computer equipment, and software (word processing, database management, spreadsheets, email).
- Knowledge of laboratory best practices including data entry, cleanliness, and system maintenance.
- Highly motivated, self‑directed, innovative, and capable of working independently or as part of a team with strong judgment, common sense, and resourcefulness.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a demanding, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong critical‑thinking skills.
- Understanding and compliance with GTI rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Solid understanding of cannabis laws and regulations set by the state and the Cannabis Compliance Board; a commitment to expanding this knowledge is appreciated and commendable.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- Must remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be approved by the state badging agency to receive an Agent badge.
- The job requires frequent grasping, speaking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
- Strong odors of extracted cannabis and cannabis plants are present consistently.
- Ability to lift 20 pounds on occasion.
- Daily exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil.
The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
Green Thumb Pay Range
$60,000 - $80,000 USD
