Abingdon Cadet Unit is seeking volunteers to assist with our weekly cadet session.
Sessions run weekly on Thursday; leaders should provide availability for the school term.
Sessions are held at a local school, sometimes at Abingdon Police Station, and occasionally at other locations.
Alongside sessions, cadets participate in local events; the role involves a forward-facing interaction with the Police, supporting the cadets in community engagement and providing crime prevention advice to the community of Abingdon.
Cadets are aged 13 to 18; volunteers should enjoy working with teenagers and bring fun and engagement to sessions.
Internal volunteers can claim TOIL for this extra responsibility; shifts may be work time depending on department.
All volunteers will undergo police vetting as per the National Vetting Code of Practice. The level required will depend on the role and its access requirements. Applicants can expect the vetting process to take approximately 30 working days, though delays may occur due to operational demand and backlogs.
