Entry Level Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of production machinery to include CNC and manual lathes and mills. Maintenance duties also include buildings, grounds, and utilities.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Performs breakdown maintenance on production machinery and utilities (electric, water, hydraulic, pneumatic, and compressed air), as required.
- Installs new or relocates existing production machinery, whenever required. Work may include foundations, conduit, and wiring, and plumbing for water and compressed air.
- Repairs building defects or damage.
- Maintains grounds, including grass cutting and spreading of chemicals.
- Performs scheduled, preventive maintenance on production machinery.
- Maintains overhead lighting in office and shop areas.
- Repairs and performs preventive maintenance to overhead cranes.
Additional responsibilities may include:
- Testing, adjusting, and performing general and preventive maintenance duties to the HVAC and Chrome Plating Tank system.
- Performing breakdown and preventive maintenance to materials handling equipment.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience preferences:
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience
- Basic computer skills
- 3-5 years of electrical experience
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Previous experience in building maintenance or equivalent preparation through other work experience or education.
- Working knowledge of National Electric Code and other applicable local, state, or federal codes.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the various work disciplines.
- Ability to detect, diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical malfunctions in production machinery.
- Ability to properly use the tools of the trades.
- Knowledge of commonly used maintenance materials.
- Ability to safely operate materials handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Ability to work from verbal instructions and/or pencil sketches or diagrams.
- Physically able to stoop, bend, lift and position materials of moderate weight.
- Willingness to work hours (including overtime) or shift assigned.
Working conditions:
- The work environment is in a manufacturing facility where noise level is usually moderate.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the use of hands for simple handling, grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
- Requires standing for long periods of time.
- Requires making repetitive motions.
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery.
- Work a standard work week but may be required to work some overtime.
