ABINGDON, VIRGINIA
The Warehouse Associate will support the mission of Feeding Southwest Virginia by providing direct support in the daily operation of the warehouse including all duties related to shipping, receiving of food, warehouse maintenance, inventory control, food storage safety and distribution of products to agencies. Operate and maintain MHE and company vehicles according to procedure. Work and support the Operations Team to ensure a good team dynamic and warehouse operations.
POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions or responsibilities listed below.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITY (EXPECTED WORK)
- Keep informed and consistently practice the policies and procedures of Feeding Southwest Virginia, Feeding America national office, USDA, FDA and government regulations pertaining to food handling, storage, sanitation and disposal.
- Ensure that maintenance of the warehouse, equipment, grounds, vehicles, sanitation, pest control, fire prevention and safety procedures are followed.
- Possess knowledge of Feeding Southwest Virginia and all programs.
- Complete Serv Safe training within the first six months of employment and keep current.
- Complete forklift certification per Federal and State Regulations.
Freezer/Cooler
- Ensure all pallets/product are labeled including receipt date, item number, pallet weight and expiration date.
- Ensure zero/minimal ice buildup on both floor and pallets to maintain food and OSHA safety standards are maintained in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Maintain accessible passage to all fire exits.
- Ensure safe product storage. Report any variances.
- Monitor temperatures at standard 39 degrees and minus 8 degrees. Report variances.
- Maintain freezer/cooler cleanliness per AIB Audit best practices.
Kids Café Area
- Put away, store and pick kids program product to ensure product is available as required.
- Monitor expiration dates in support of program requirements.
- Ensure safe product storage. Report any variances.
- Work with Programs Relationship Representative;
Child Hunger Programs Specialist to maintain program continuity.
- Maintain accessible passage to all fire exits.
- Report and reconcile any and all on-hand daily variances or damage.
- Maintain kids' program aisle cleanliness per AIB Audit best practices.
Selection Floor
- Ensure all safety and product handling rules are maintained for the mutual protection of staff, visitors, volunteers and agencies.
- Restock selection floor daily as required to provide adequate product mix and quantities are available to agencies.
- Conduct random inspection of storage boxes in support of food safety goals.
- Maintain weekly product damage/loss log for input and adjustment to the Perpetual Inventory Software.
- Maintain accessible passage to all fire exits.
- Maintain selection floor cleanliness per AIB Audit best practices.
Shipping and Receiving
- Ensure accurate completion of all receipt information and required log data in accordance with standard operation procedures.
- Validate all inbound and outbound quantities to ensure inventory integrity.
- Substantiate outbound load characteristics to ensure zero in-transit load related product or equipment damage.
- Immediately report any and all product equipment safety or facility damage. Photo document as needed.
- Maintain accessible passage to all fire exits.
- Maintain shipping and receiving area cleanliness per AIB Audit best practices.
- Put away, store and pickup USDA product in accordance with USDA Food Distribution Guidelines and Agreement.
- Conduct and reconcile weekly, monthly and annual USDA product inventory.
- Report and capture all USDA product damage and/or quantity variances.
- Maintain appropriate pallet tags and product labeling.
- Maintain accessible passage to all fire exits.
- Maintain USDA Program product aisles cleanliness per AIB Audit best practices.
- Maintain procedures in receiving and shipping product to and from the Food Bank including loading, unloading truck and storage of product according to established procedures.
- Process Agency orders including reading orders, checking orders for accuracy and packing orders.
- Accurately tag pallets with codes, cases and weights.
- Assist in directing flow of product in warehouse.
- Oversee community service workers in assigning duties as needed.
- Monitors first in/first out system on date-coded products.
