Project & Payroll Accountant to join its growing Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who wants to grow and expand their skill set. Reporting into the CFO, this position is for someone who enjoys owning the payroll process while partnering closely with accounting, operations, and project management teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This highly visible role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on project accounting and operations compliance, reporting, and process improvements while supporting a well-established organization with a strong reputation throughout the Boston market.

Payroll Administration (Primary Responsibility)
  • Process weekly payroll for union and hourly employees and bi-weekly payroll for salaried employees accurately and on time.
  • Prepare and submit union reports and maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Serve as the primary resource for payroll-related inquiries, system support, and troubleshooting.
  • Support payroll audits, union audits, insurance audits, and government reporting requirements.
Project Accounting
  • Manage project accounting activities including billing, A/R, A/P, collections, and cash applications.
  • Set up jobs, budgets, and cost codes within the ERP system and maintain accurate job cost records.
  • Import project estimates and maintain budgets to support accurate job cost reporting and forecasting.
  • Analyze labor, budgets, job costs, change orders, and project financial performance.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and support month‑end reporting activities.
  • Perform financial reporting, reconciliations, and project analysis to support project managers, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Maintain client contract documentation, compliance requirements, and project records.
  • Develop Excel-based reports utilizing Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs, and advanced formulas to improve financial visibility and reporting efficiency.
