Payroll Manager/Payroll Specialist to join its growing Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys owning the payroll process while partnering closely with accounting, operations, and project management teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This highly visible role offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on payroll operations, compliance, reporting, and process improvements while supporting a well-established organization with a strong reputation throughout the Boston market.

What You'll Do
  • Manage and process weekly payroll for union and field employees and bi-weekly payroll for salaried employees.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in compliance with all federal, state, and union requirements.
  • Maintain employee payroll records, deductions, benefits, and time-off tracking.
  • Serve as the internal payroll subject matter expert, supporting payroll systems, reporting, and employee inquiries.
  • Prepare certified payroll reports, union reporting, government filings, and compliance documentation.
  • Support union, insurance, and regulatory audits.
  • Partner with Accounting and Operations teams to provide labor reporting, job costing analysis, and project-related payroll insights.
  • Assist with special projects, process improvements, and operational initiatives alongside company leadership.
  • Provide cross-functional support in areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Job Costing, and Inventory when needed.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience processing high-volume payroll in a construction, manufacturing, engineering, or project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, reporting requirements, and payroll systems.
  • Union payroll experience is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, customer-service-oriented approach.
  • Experience supporting audits, certified payroll, job costing, or labor reporting is a plus.
