STEAM Teacher Grades 7 & 8

Location:

Abington Middle School, Abington, Massachusetts

Position: Full-time. The Abington Middle School STEAM Teacher will design and deliver the district’s STEAM curriculum, helping students explore science, technology, engineering, and art in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.

• Demonstrate depth of content knowledge and understanding.
• Design lessons that accommodate multiple learning styles.
• Align lesson objectives with school and state standards as identified on curriculum maps.
• Adapt curriculum, instruction, and assessment in accordance with student IEPs and 504 plans.
• Interact respectfully with all students.
• Hold all students accountable to high expectations for achievement and growth.
• Establish effective classroom routines and procedures.
• Communicate clearly and effectively through speech and writing.
• Incorporate questioning strategies to improve student thinking and learning.
• Facilitate engaging and inclusive classroom discussion.
• Vary instruction to accommodate different learning styles.
• Embed supports for Multilingual Learners in every lesson.
• Provide ongoing, timely, and useful feedback to students.
• Utilize a variety of assessment strategies.
• Maintain respectful, collegial, and collaborative relationships with colleagues and parents.
• Seek and participate in collaborative inquiry as professional development.
• Adhere to and uphold school rules and procedures.
• Fulfill basic professional responsibilities.
• Contribute positively to the professional culture of the school.

• Resume, 3 references, transcripts, and appropriate DESE license and background checks required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
