Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Abington Memorial Hospital – Nights, 7:00pm – 7:00am (36 hours per week).

Prior operating room experience is required. This role focuses on patient‑centered care, nursing process, and interdisciplinary collaboration during perioperative and postoperative care.

• Interact with co‑workers, patients, families, and other staff consistent with Jefferson values.
• Integrate evidence‑based practice, clinical expertise, and patient preferences to deliver optimal care.
• Partner with patients and families to identify learning needs, provide education, and promote understanding of care plans.
• Minimize risk of harm through adherence to nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
• Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate errors, and support ethical decision‑making.
• Utilize data to monitor care outcomes and apply improvement methods to design and test changes that improve quality and safety.
• Function effectively within inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making.
• Create an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Serve as a preceptor to appropriate staff members.
• Participate in hospital or practice‑setting committees focused on safety and quality improvement.
• Show willingness to give and receive feedback, integrating appropriate changes into practice.

• Specialized Diploma from an accredited school of nursing.
• Knowledge of patient‑ and family‑centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, education techniques, medication administration, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• RN license (or RN-PA) in the state of Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

• Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of a BSN or advanced degree within three years of hire.
• One year of prior RN experience in an acute care setting.

• Active RN license in the state of practice.

• Lifts and carries 40–50lb. Push/pull patients on bed or stretcher (29lb. push force). Lateral transfers up to 50lb. of patient weight.
• Frequent to continuous standing/walking. May walk 8–10miles per shift.
• Tasks may include kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
