Responsibilities- Interact with co-workers, patients, their families or designated care partners, and other staff, reflecting Jefferson’s values.
- Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient preferences, and cultural beliefs into care delivery.
- Partner with patients and their families to identify learning needs and priorities, providing education that is useful, understandable, and affirming.
- Minimize patient harm by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
- Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
- Use data to monitor care outcomes and apply improvement methods to design and test changes for continuous quality and safety enhancement.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Recognize patients and their families in providing safe, compassionate, and coordinated care based on personal preferences and cultural beliefs.
- Create an environment of belonging and inclusion, demonstrating problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Commit to learning and seek opportunities for professional growth and development; serve as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
- Actively participate in hospital‑ and practice setting‑based committees, including safety and quality improvement.

- Specialized diploma graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge of patient‑and‑family‑centered practice and how to convey respect and collaboration.
- Cultural awareness and ability to connect effectively with diverse backgrounds.
- Effective communication skills: understanding concepts, tools, and techniques for transmitting and interpreting information.
- Ability to use partnership language, engage patients and families in health decisions, and delegate appropriately to team members.
- Knowledge of patient assessment, diagnosis, and care planning, including the use of tools and techniques.
- Knowledge of child and adult education techniques and ability to elicit learning priorities and educate patients and their partners.
- Knowledge of medication administration and prescription, with the ability to apply this knowledge for treatment and outside‑hospital prescription.
- Knowledge of discharge planning, including post‑discharge needs and follow‑up care coordination.
- Knowledge of health information documentation: recording medical histories, signs, medications, diagnoses, treatment plans, and test results.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- American Heart Association (AHA) certification and RN license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey (state of practice).
- Bachelor’s degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire.
- One year of previous experience as an RN in an acute‑care setting.
- Active RN license required in the state of practice.
Lift and carry 40–50 lbs. Perform push/pull on patients and bed equipment (requires ~29 lbs. push force) and lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight. Frequently stand or walk continuously; patient transporters may walk 8–10 miles per shift. Tasks may include kneeling, bending, squatting, or performing CPR.
