Registered Nurse - Per Diem Weekend Plan

Overview

Job Duties
  • Interact with co‑workers, patients, family or designated care partner(s), and other staff in alignment with Jefferson values.
  • Integrate evidence‑based practice, clinical expertise, and patient/family preferences to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Partner with patients and family or care partners to identify learning needs, priorities, and provide clear, affirming education.
  • Minimize risk of harm by following established nursing practices, protocols, and individual performance standards.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision‑making.
  • Use data to monitor care outcomes, employing improvement methods to design, test, and continuously enhance quality and safety.
  • Function effectively within nursing and inter‑professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making to achieve quality patient care.
  • Recognize patients, their family/de designated care partner(s) to provide safe, compassionate, and coordinated care respecting personal preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs.
  • Create an inclusive environment, demonstrating problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Show commitment to learning and seek professional development opportunities; act as a preceptor to appropriate staff members.
  • Actively participate in hospital and practice‑setting committees, including safety and quality improvement.
  • Display willingness to give and receive feedback, integrating appropriate changes into practice.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Specialized diploma from an accredited nursing school.
  • Knowledge of patient‑ and family‑centered practice; ability to convey respect and collaborate in care planning.
  • Understanding of cultural awareness to respect diverse backgrounds and connect effectively.
  • Effective communication skills, including transmitting, receiving, and accurately interpreting information; ability to delegate respectfully and use partnership language with patients and families.
  • Proficiency in patient assessment and care; ability to evaluate ailments and implement treatment plans.
  • Experience in patient and care‑partner education across child and adult populations, eliciting learning priorities and providing relevant instruction.
  • Medication administration and prescription knowledge; ability to manage medication therapy within the hospital and for post‑discharge care.
  • Discharge planning expertise; ability to develop discharge plans and arrange follow‑up care with patients and families.
  • Assessment and diagnosis proficiency; ability to analyze symptoms, generate clinical judgments, and select appropriate interventions.
  • Health information documentation knowledge; ability to record medical histories, vital signs, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, tests, and results accurately.
  • BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
  • RN licensure in Pennsylvania and New Jersey (licensed Registered Nurse).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) or completion of BSN or an advanced degree within three years of hire strongly preferred.
  • One year prior experience as an RN in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting and carrying 40–50 lbs.; pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requires ~29 lbs. push force); lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of patient weight.
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking; patient transporters may walk 8–10 miles per shift.
  • May perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR as required for patient care.
