Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving growth and expanding the company’s presence within the maritime and shipping sectors. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, and delivering tailored maritime solutions to meet client needs. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the shipping industry, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record in business development and sales.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the maritime and shipping sectors, including shipowners, operators, and charterers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure high levels of satisfaction and identify opportunities for account growth.
  • Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline to support sustained revenue growth.
  • Deliver compelling presentations, proposals, and negotiations to secure new contracts and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure seamless service delivery and high client satisfaction.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on sales performance, market insights, and growth opportunities to senior management
People Management Responsibilities
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration to align commercial objectives with operational delivery.
Strategic Responsibilities
  • Conduct basic market and customer research to identify new business opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitor activity
  • Represent the company at relevant industry events to support business development
Qualifications
  • University degree in Business Administration, Marketing, International Trade, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within the maritime, shipping, or logistics industries.
  • Familiarity with international maritime regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong network within the maritime industry, including shipping companies, port authorities, and logistics providers. Strong understanding of ship agency operations, maritime logistics, and port services.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.
Required Skills
  • Professional English (spoken and written).
  • Additional languages are desirable
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a global, cross-functional team.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
