Senior Director Group Global Business Development GGBD - Middle East And North MENA
Job Scope
HENSOLDT is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Business Development Director to join its Abu Dhabi operations. You will be responsible for driving strategic business growth, identifying and developing new opportunities, and delivering Order Intake targets in alignment with Group objectives for the MENA region. The successful candidate will bring proven experience within the UAE and GCC defence markets, along with a strong track record of building sustainable customer relationships and executing complex business development strategies.
The position reports directly to the Head of Region MENA and offers a key opportunity to contribute to HENSOLDT’s continued expansion in a strategically important market.
- Lead the definition of the market strategy for designated markets and implement it within the context of the regional goals.
- Identify new potential opportunities in allocated markets and mature them into campaigns.
- Produce and execute Capture Plans for the leads/campaigns identified in the market strategy and provide associated sales reporting.
- Build, communicate and maintain trust relationships with internal and external stakeholders, business partners and government authorities (incl. customers, end‑users, embassies).
- Together with Product Sales, jointly achieve Order Intake targets in line with the Group Business Plan.
- Support contract negotiations in line with the respective Product Sales.
- Key Account Management responsibility, both B‑G and B‑B.
- Represent HENSOLDT at marketing exhibitions and other related events when required.
- Support the Head of Region MENA by taking a lead role within their peer group.
- Adhere to high ethical standards and compliance laws, ensuring the parent company policies and legal guidelines are followed.
- Profound understanding of the defence landscape in the Middle East including procurement processes.
- Excellent network within the defence eco‑system in the Middle East, both with end‑users and within procurement organisations.
- Experience in customer negotiations with a willingness to close customer contracts.
- Ability to integrate seamlessly into a team environment while independently taking ownership and driving outcomes.
- Extensive travel across the Middle East region and, on occasion, to Germany may be required.
- UAE driving license is mandatory.
- Ability to live and work in UAE in accordance with local labour laws.
- Minimum twelve years’ experience within the Defence & Security industry.
- Minimum seven years’ experience in Business Development/Sales in the MENA region.
- Experience in cross‑functional management within a complex defence and security business environment.
- Minimum BSc degree or equivalent, relevant to the defence industry / technologies.
- Compliance with all reasonable operational instructions or procedures relating to Company policies, reporting, and controls, and an obligation to take reasonable care for the health and safety of oneself and others at work.
- This position will be located in Abu Dhabi and is preferably based in UAE or GCC at the time of application. Moving costs are not offered.
