Responsibilities
- Process high volume of purchase order requests to support the vehicle maintenance workshop.
- Source parts, tools, components or services in line with cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Support the purchasing function and other departments; communicate any supply problems impacting operations.
- Act as interface between suppliers and departments on sourcing processes and new projects.
- Monitor and advise on issues presenting risk or opportunity to the organization.
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.
- Provide analysis on new and existing costs and review cost reduction activities.
- Prepare reports and updates as required.
- Perform common business practices relating to purchase, pricing, terms, shipment, taxes, and payment for commodities and services.
- Work closely with others in procurement; review opportunities for continuous and business improvements.
- Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms with suppliers; review savings opportunities via procurement best practices.
- Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships; keep up good communications.
- Ensure professional and consistent approach in all supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies during negotiations and contract award process.
- Compile data on supplier performance for evaluation.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers; contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance.
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in any stream, or CIPS qualification.
- Minimum 5 years experience in procuring automotive components.
- Understanding of automotive processes and components.
- Familiarity with an integrated ERP system.
- Commercial and financial awareness, full understanding of customer order fulfilment.
- Experience working in a purchasing team, preferably automotive or manufacturing.
- Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding and cost breakdown.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and contribute to business improvements.
- Computer literate with advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with careful attention to detail.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
