Filaluce is looking for a full-time skilled fiber artist to join our team and bring technical mastery and creative vision to every piece we produce.

Role Overview

We're seeking an experienced fiber artist to design, develop, and produce original textile-based work. You'll work across techniques such as weaving, felting, knitting, embroidery, dyeing, and mixed-media construction to bring concepts from sketch to finished piece. This role suits someone who blends artistic sensibility with hands-on technical skill and can work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities
  • Design and create original fiber art pieces, from concept development through final production
  • Select and prepare materials, including natural and synthetic fibers, dyes, and embellishments
  • Execute techniques such as weaving, felting, macramé, embroidery, quilting, or knotting depending on project needs
  • Maintain consistent quality and craftsmanship across all pieces
  • Manage project timelines and meet production deadlines
  • Source and test new materials, tools, and techniques to expand creative capabilities
  • Document work through photography for portfolios, marketing, or exhibition submissions
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional experience in fiber arts or textile design
  • Demonstrated portfolio showcasing technical skill and original artistic voice
  • Proficiency in at least two fiber techniques (e.g., weaving, felting, embroidery, natural dyeing, macramé, knitting/crochet)
  • Strong understanding of fiber properties, tools, and equipment (looms, needles, spinning wheels, etc.)
  • Ability to translate concepts and sketches into finished physical work
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet production deadlines
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a creative team
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree or formal training in Fiber Arts, Textile Design, or a related field
  • Experience with natural dyeing processes or sustainable material sourcing
  • Basic photography skills for documenting finished work
