The opportunity is suited to an experienced American Curriculum teacher who can deliver engaging primary education, respond effectively to different learning abilities and support the academic and personal development of every student.
The Primary Homeroom Teacher will take responsibility for classroom learning, assessment and student progress while working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and curriculum support professionals. The role requires imaginative teaching, effective behaviour management and a strong commitment to the wider educational life of Virginia American School.

The Primary Homeroom Teacher will create purposeful learning experiences that inspire students and help them achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and its learning expectations.
- Work with fellow teachers to plan engaging lessons that meet curriculum requirements.
- Plan, prepare and deliver sessions suited to the full ability range within the classroom.
- Organise classroom provision, resources and displays to maintain a positive and stimulating learning environment.
- Motivate pupils through enthusiastic and imaginative teaching.
- Observe and assess children in accordance with school assessment procedures.
- Reflect on classroom provision, teaching effectiveness and student progress.
- Adapt planning, curriculum delivery and the classroom environment in response to identified learning needs.
- Embed Virginia American School Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes throughout the curriculum.
- Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff where applicable.
- Collaborate with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists and other professionals when required.
- Assess and record student development using Target Tracker.
- Use assessment data to influence subsequent planning, provision and intervention.
- Monitor student achievement and identify areas requiring further support or challenge.
- Maintain appropriate records of learning and development.
- Provide parents and carers with feedback regarding student progress.
- Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and other relevant meetings.
Strong communication and constructive relationships across the school community are essential to the position. The Primary Homeroom Teacher will liaise flexibly with teaching colleagues, work alongside curriculum support staff and maintain productive relationships with parents. Collaboration should contribute to student happiness, academic achievement and the effective delivery of the curriculum.
