Position Overview

Credit Manager role supports First Abu Dhabi Bank's Private Banking Credit team by assessing, structuring, reviewing, and monitoring credit facilities for high‑net‑worth clients. The role ensures adherence to credit policy, maintains portfolio quality, and supports relationship teams in delivering best‑in‑class structured lending solutions across multiple asset classes. It plays a key role in maintaining the bank's credit risk discipline while supporting Private Banking growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct credit analysis, assessment, recommendation, approval (within DoA), review, monitoring, and recovery for assigned Private Banking portfolios.
  • Ensure turnaround times for credit processing and approvals meet SLA commitments.
  • Verify that credit requests align with regulatory guidelines, bank policies, and TMRAC standards.
  • Identify exceptions and ensure Private Banking teams implement appropriate mitigations.
  • Guide Private Banking on structuring facilities, securities, covenants, and documentation requirements.
  • Perform due diligence in coordination with Relationship Managers and product teams for prospective and existing clients.
  • Follow up on covenant breaches, documentation deficiencies, excesses, and past‑due exposures.
  • Provide expert input into deal structures based on risk appetite for products, sectors, and geographies.
  • Ensure timely availability of accurate data and information for credit decision‑makers and senior management.
  • Coordinate with CAD, Legal, and internal stakeholders on risk rating, documentation, and collateral assessment.
  • Update risk systems including rating models and collateral systems to ensure accurate client risk profiles.
  • Recommend policy, framework, and risk model enhancements based on portfolio experience and market conditions.
  • Maintain strong audit outcomes through proactive compliance and implementation of recommended actions.
Specific Accountability
  • Prepare comprehensive credit proposals highlighting risks, mitigations, and recommendations for new and existing clients.
  • Coordinate with RMs to obtain necessary documentation well before annual review deadlines.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls to support credit assessment and due diligence.
  • Monitor accounts regularly to ensure terms, conditions, and approval requirements are met.
  • Oversee mark‑to‑market revaluation and ensure timely margin call resolution.
  • Review exception and portfolio reports to stay updated on client performance, financial standing, and market developments.
  • Identify early warning indicators and work with Business Units to implement corrective action plans.
  • Manage problem credits and recommend remedial strategies including restructuring and classification adjustments.
  • Support team members through knowledge sharing and training participation.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree required; CA, MBA, CFA, FRM, or related certifications preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of banking experience, including at least five years in Credit roles.
  • Strong understanding of Lombard lending, real‑estate financing, FX, derivatives, and secured lending structures.
  • Knowledge of investment products including bonds, sukuks, equities, mutual funds, and structured notes.
  • Ability to analyse personal net worth statements and complex client structures.
  • Strong structuring skills with ability to propose optimal lending solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work under pressure.
