The Compliance Manager ensures adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, particularly AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and compliance regulations in the UAE. Responsibilities include maintaining the compliance framework, monitoring regulatory changes, managing the compliance team, providing training, and timely reporting to the UAE Central Bank and other authorities.
Principal Accountabilities- Lead and manage the compliance team, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
- Report suspicious transactions to the UAE Central Bank through Go AML and submit regulatory data (e.g., FATCA, CRS) on time.
- Prepare and submit Compliance/AML reports to regulatory authorities and management.
- Draft and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) following Central Bank guidelines.
- Respond to compliance queries from the UAE Central Bank and support CRM for regulatory reporting when needed.
- Maintain AAF’s private blacklists and assess sanctions risk in correspondent banking.
- Review new products for compliance before board approval and update AML policies as needed.
- Conduct ongoing AML/Compliance training sessions for the team and staff to ensure awareness and compliance.
- Manage the AML reporting network and enhance compliance processes, including policy/system updates and monitoring programs.
- Ensure compliance screening before activating facilities/accounts, including KYC, FATCA, and CRS verification.
- Keep client documents (constitutional, passport, Emirates ) updated and valid, with proper filing and safe custody.
- Manage client risk categorization and conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients.
- Monitor transactions for high-risk accounts, investigate alerts, and ensure adherence to AML policies.
- Address law enforcement information requests and manage Search & Freeze Notices from the Central Bank UAE.
- Approve/reject high-risk transactions and review account opening forms before processing.
- Monitor transactions involving high-risk and sanctioned countries.
- A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CAMS or equivalent certification is required.
- 6+ years of experience in compliance within banking or finance.
- Proven experience in managing and training a compliance team.
- Knowledge of UAE Central Bank regulations and AML/KYC requirements.
- Proficiency in Go AML and compliance tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage complex compliance issues.
