Business Risk Manager - AVP
Overview
State Street’s Business Risk Management function is an independent first‑line of defense that partners with executive management to assess and oversee business risks. The role focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the Middle East region while supporting the global Business Risk Organisation.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and oversee the execution of business line risk management practices, including regional risk assessments (RCSA/LERA), issue and incident management, key risk indicators, and control monitoring.
- Support business functions to ensure implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines set by corporate functions such as Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Technology.
- Liaise with regional management to provide consolidated risk profiles and metrics to inform risk‑based decision making.
- Act in an advisory capacity to ensure risks associated with new business, products, and service changes are identified and mitigated.
- Ensure global risk management practices and programs are implemented appropriately across entities, including oversight of third‑party relationships.
- Collaborate with the second and third lines of defense and engage with local regulators and clients.
- Promote a culture of risk excellence through demonstrated behavioural traits.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in risk, compliance, or audit roles within the financial services industry.
- In-depth knowledge of regulations, products, risks, and controls within the financial services industry.
- Relevant risk or compliance professional certifications.
- Independent strategic thinker with a clear understanding of financial services risks.
- Strong organizational awareness and ability to facilitate and resolve conflicts.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels of a global organization.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a propensity to drive issues toward resolution.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working in a fast‑paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) and risk platforms such as Archer.
