About the Role
The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is responsible for establishing and overseeing the firm's risk management framework across broker dealer regulated activities conducted in or from ADGM. The role provides independent oversight of the firm's risk profile, ensuring that material risks are appropriately identified, assessed, monitored, and managed in line with the firm's risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the firm's enterprise risk management framework in accordance with applicable FSRA Rules and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee risk governance processes covering operational, market, liquidity, technology, cyber security, outsourcing, conduct, and strategic risks.
- Monitor the firm's overall risk profile and ensure material risks are managed within approved risk appetite and tolerance levels.
- Provide independent risk oversight and challenge over business activities, client onboarding frameworks, trading operations, new products, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments, stress testing, scenario analysis, and control effectiveness reviews.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of risk policies, procedures, risk indicators, and reporting frameworks.
- Review material risk events, operational incidents, and control failures, ensuring appropriate escalation and remediation.
- Prepare regular risk reports for the Board, Board Committees, and senior management.
- Liaise with the FSRA on risk management matters, regulatory reviews, and supervisory engagements.
- Promote a strong risk culture across the organisation and support risk-based decision making.
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in risk management within financial services, brokerages, capital markets, banking, fintech, or virtual asset businesses.
- Strong understanding of ADGM regulatory requirements and risk management expectations.
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise risk management frameworks and governance structures.
- Experience engaging with regulators, Boards, and senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong commercial judgement and business acumen.
- Able to provide independent challenge while maintaining effective partnerships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrates high integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced and evolving regulatory environment.
- Passion for financial services, digital assets, and emerging technologies.
- Embraces the use of AI and technology to enhance risk monitoring, reporting, and operational efficiency.
