About the business area - Group AuditThe Internal Audit Group plays a crucial role in providing independent and objective assurance to the Board of Directors. The Group’s activities are designed to provide consulting services that add value to the organisation and enhance the quality of the internal control system through a systematic and disciplined approach. Leveraging advanced technologies, data analytics, and professionally qualified auditors. Thus contributing to the effectiveness of the organisation's risk management, control, and governance processes.
Inthis role, your key responsibilities include
- Assist in preparation of BACC/BOD/ISSC/Group CEO and other management reports to the required standard in order to summarise Sharia audit activity for each Sharia audit/assignment
- Prepare and review the planning for regular Sharia audit assignments, manage and conduct Sharia audits to ensure that they achieve their objectives according to established standards
- Review and issue draft reports and observations in order to highlight Sharia non-compliance risk issues, control lapses and recommend enhancement of internal Sharia controls
- Prepare and review final reports and executive summaries to ensure they meet the required standards
- Review action plans for each Sharia audit and conduct meetings with auditees in order to follow up, close or escalation of open issues as appropriate.
- Perform duties assigned by the Head of Internal Shari’ah Audit, including administrative tasks, regulatory requirements, report preparation, coordination with stakeholders, document management, and ensuring timely submission of deliverables
- Manage and update the risk register and audit programme for audit areas and processes with full reference to the latest technical developments to ensure their use to the required standard and in accordance with HSA resolutions. AAOIFI Sharia Standards and ISSC Resolutions.
- Review and provide Shariah audit input on policies, procedures, and controls to enhance Shariah compliance and mitigate Shariah non-compliance risk, without assuming management responsibility.
- Conduct or support specialized Shariah audit and investigation assignments, including ad-hoc reviews and whistleblowing matters, in accordance with approved Shariah governance and audit standards.
- Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance
- Organise and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved, and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems
- Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, and ensure employee adherence so that work is carried out to the required standard while delivering the required standards of service to customers and stakeholders
- Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with Sharia norms and principles and the Bank’s standards
- Maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders while delivering independent and objective Internal Shari’ah Audit services.
- Ensure timely, clear, and professional communication of Shari’ah audit matters in accordance with the Bank’s service standards and Shari’ah governance requirements.
- Minimum practical experience of five years in Shari’ah audit, Shari’ah review, Islamic banking operations, or related assurance functions.
- University degree in Islamic Shari’ah, or relevant specializations
