Position: Investment Director - Infrastructure & Energy Investment Management (APAC)

Based in Abu Dhabi, the Investment Director will join a global infrastructure platform with significant discretionary capital, a proven investment track record and a diversified portfolio spanning digital infrastructure, energy transition, power & utilities and transportation. As they expand investment activity across APAC, the Investment Director will lead high-profile transactions from origination through execution, influence portfolio strategy and work alongside some of the industry's most respected investors.

The Opportunity

As Investment Director, you will be a senior member of the APAC Infrastructure team with responsibility for originating, evaluating, executing and actively managing investments across the region. You will play a leading role in identifying compelling investment opportunities across digital infrastructure, energy transition, renewable power, conventional power, transportation and adjacent infrastructure sectors. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help shape portfolio strategy while representing the organisation across sponsors, corporates, management teams, governments and financial advisers throughout Asia-Pacific.

The firms invests across minority direct investments, co-investments and strategic partnerships spanning both mid-market and large-cap opportunities across greenfield, brownfield, core, core-plus and value-add strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the origination, evaluation, structuring, negotiation and execution of APAC infrastructure investments
  • Source and originate opportunities across digital infrastructure, energy transition, conventional power, renewable energy, transportation and related sectors
  • Drive origination through relationships with sponsors, corporates, fund managers, advisers and management teams
  • Lead Investment Committee discussions and present recommendations to Senior Management and Investment Committees
  • Lead due diligence, valuation, structuring, negotiation, documentation and closing processes
  • Manage portfolio investments and support value creation and asset management initiatives
  • Contribute to portfolio construction, capital allocation and broader Infrastructure strategy
  • Mentor junior professionals and support development of the APAC infrastructure platform
What We're Looking For

The Investment Director would be an experienced infrastructure investment professional with a demonstrable track record of leading complex transactions across Asia-Pacific. You combine strong commercial judgement with exceptional execution capability and possess the credibility to engage with senior executives, sponsors and investment partners across the region. Our client is particularly interested in professionals who have built successful careers within leading infrastructure private equity funds, sovereign investors, pension funds or specialist infrastructure investment platforms.

  • 10+ years of relevant investment experience
  • Board-level experience and the commercial gravitas to represent the firm at the highest level
  • Demonstrable buyside direct infrastructure investing experience is essential
  • Experience across core-plus and value-add infrastructure strategies, including greenfield and brownfield assets
  • A proven recent track record of originating, leading and successfully completing APAC infrastructure transactions is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate meaningful responsibility for transaction sourcing, underwriting, Investment Committee approval, execution and closing
  • Deep understanding of APAC infrastructure markets and investment dynamics
  • Strong regional networks across Australia, Japan, Korea Southeast Asia, India and/or broader APAC
  • Experience leading complex transaction processes from origination through to execution and ongoing asset management
  • Advanced financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis capabilities
  • Strong commercial judgement and investment decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership capabilities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the presence to lead and grow a regional team
