Responsibilities
- Carry out daily cleaning duties throughout the residence to a high standard, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing surfaces and furniture, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and maintaining presentation of living areas and guest rooms.
- Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks such as oven and refrigerator cleaning, window and blind cleaning, carpet and upholstery care, and spring deep cleans as scheduled or requested.
- Manage bedroom preparation and turnover for household members and guests: make beds to presentation standards, change and launder bed linens, and ensure wardrobes and drawers are neat and organised.
- Handle laundry tasks (washing, drying, ironing, folding, careful storage of linens and everyday garments) and escalated specialist garment care to the Laundry In Charge or external providers.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of utility and storage areas: ensure supplies are stocked and stored correctly, and report items that require replenishment or replacement.
- Follow household cleaning schedules and checklists, record completed tasks, and report any maintenance issues, damages or safety concerns to the housekeeping manager or head of household.
- Adhere to correct use and safe storage of cleaning products and equipment, following health and safety guidance and household protocols for chemical handling.
- Assist with event preparation and post‑event cleaning, including setting up or clearing away furniture, polishing tableware, and managing waste removal as required.
- Work with discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times, presenting a polite, calm and helpful manner when interacting with household members, guests and external contractors.
- Undertake additional reasonable duties related to household upkeep as requested to support smooth daily operations.
- Previous experience (minimum 1–2 years) in housekeeping, domestic service or a similar role within private households, serviced residences or hospitality settings.
- Good knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials and equipment, with the ability to achieve high standards of finish and presentation.
- Basic laundry skills, including ironing and garment care; knowledge of textile handling and stain treatment is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail, reliable time‑management and the ability to follow instructions and schedules accurately.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks such as lifting, bending and extended periods on foot; comfortable working in varying household environments.
- Excellent communication skills with a polite, discreet and professional demeanour suited to a private household.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team; trustworthy, punctual and able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Basic awareness of health and safety practices, including safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals; relevant training or certifications are advantageous.
