Legal Director

A prestigious Abu Dhabi based government entity is seeking an experienced Legal Director to lead and elevate its legal function. This is a strategic leadership role requiring deep technical expertise in financial services and the presence to operate confidently at board level.

You will take full ownership of the legal function, providing strategic and operational legal guidance across the organization. The mandate goes beyond advisory, this role requires someone who can influence, challenge, and align senior stakeholders while ensuring robust governance and risk management practices.

• Lead and manage the complete legal function
• Provide expert legal advice across commercial contracts, employment law, regulatory matters, and bilateral agreements
• Oversee complex contractual negotiations and ensure risk mitigation across all business activities
• Advise senior leadership, Board members, and the Chairman on legal strategy and exposure
• Prepare and present legal briefs and position papers for executive and board-level discussions
• Drive accountability across internal stakeholders including HR and executive management
• Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory frameworks

• Bachelor's in Law
• 15–20 years of legal experience, with a strong background in financial services (government experience also considered)
• Proven expertise in commercial contracts, employment law, regulatory matters, and cross-border agreements
• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions is preferred
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence and hold authority in senior forums
• Demonstrated experience managing teams and building internal alignment
