Overview

The General Manager (GM) will be responsible for all operations of the club units, with a focus on generating revenue, managing staff and operations, and controlling costs. They will oversee day-to-day operations of all teams, implement and supervise the brand’s mission/vision/values, and manage departmental KPIs. The GM works with Sales, Fitness, Admin, Maintenance and Support teams to ensure members have the tools and equipment they need and have a positive gym experience.

Responsibilities
  • Drive operational excellence of the club by implementing and following standard operating procedures, and conducting self-assessments and health/safety audits.
  • Manage, develop, coach, control and motivate the Sales Force, Group Exercise and Fitness/Personal Training teams to maintain high professional standards and achieve monthly sales and KPI targets.
  • Implement sales and marketing strategies; analyze trends and results of local operations in conjunction with HQ.
  • Plan to achieve divisional and personal targets, aligning with company policies, strategies and budget.
  • Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs to capture key local demographics.
  • Develop, maintain and execute the marketing plan in conjunction with the sales plan.
  • Provide and analyse daily sales reports and communicate data to superiors.
  • Manage and administer the fitness and group exercise operations, assisting in Fitness/Personal Training activities.
  • Maintain group exercise attendance to support retention, grow net memberships, and upsell Personal Training by staying current with trends and competitors.
  • Analyse and optimise group exercise operations to match member flow and peak timings.
  • Provide on-the-ground support for Group Exercise & Personal Trainers to generate leads and upsell packages.
  • Meet with customers to discuss evolving needs and assess relationship quality with the company.
  • Provide and analyse daily reports for Group Exercise, Fitness Training and Personal Training, and communicate data to superiors.
  • Ensure targets are delivered through people management, performance reviews, rewards and recognition.
  • Assess strengths and weaknesses of direct reporting teams and manage development programs accordingly.
  • Continually develop knowledge of the business climate, applications and competition for defined geography and accounts.
  • Assess current business distribution channels, develop and evaluate performance, and manage conflicts for alignment with territory plans.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education and networking; participate in professional societies.
  • Analyse, audit and forecast performance; strictly adhere to Company Policy.
  • Assist in recruitment and ongoing training of all team members; contribute to team effort by achieving related results as needed.
  • Qualifications & Skills
    • High level emotional intelligence and ability to manage multinational teams.
    • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis and action planning.
    • Strong customer service skills and ability to solve issues independently.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Sound business and marketing knowledge; ability to lead and delegate effectively.
    • Deep Fitness Industry knowledge; reliable, flexible with a strong work ethic; passion for health and fitness.
    • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve team/individual KPIs and goals.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of fitness operations and trends.

    Requirements include:

    • Bachelor’s degree in sports science, business administration or management
    • 3 years of experience in the same field and as a GM
