AVP, Compliance - Regulatory Relationships

Key Accountabilities

Build and maintain productive business relationships with regulators and management across the regions. Must have strong project management skills and the ability to work cross‑functionally across the regions to effectively deliver the role purpose. Act as an advisor to the different related divisions across the Group by soliciting authorized expertise as required to provide timely and accurate compliance advice on any critical regulations to ensure continued expertise is provided to the business functions.

Keep abreast of related rules, regulations and best practices, assess their impact on FAB and update the business functions accordingly.

• Support the Vice President‑Regulatory Management as follows:
  • Coordinate the smooth delivery of the Regulatory Examinations for the UAE, liaising with respective units for data and meetings.
  • Review, prepare and submit licensing requirements to regulators (new branch, relocation, closure, international branch conversions, new ATMs, closure, temporary ATMs, etc.).
  • Maintain regulations (compendiums) for lines of business, subsidiaries and countries and assist in mapping these regulations to activities where applicable.
  • Maintain and manage the ongoing monitoring of the regulatory risk registers for the UAE and other countries.
  • Manage the requirements noted from regulatory correspondences from FAB, subsidiaries and businesses.
  • Assist in managing complaints escalated to the regulatory compliance team from time to time by regulators' governors office.
  • Manage SCA-related requirements for business operations, custody and brokerage.
  • Assist in the monthly review and tracking of key gaps and responses on regulatory updates from all countries and follow up regularly.
  • Manage related regulatory policies and best practices.
  • Manage regulatory issues and reporting for CBUAE, SCA for the UAE with oversight and governance of FAB International locations.
  • Provide updates via MI reports on regulatory matters to senior management through Compliance Monitoring Assurance and Governance MAG team.
  • Assist in meeting various external requirements such as monthly reports, insider approvals, trading periods, etc.
  • Provide guidance to senior management or higher authorities through effective management information reports on core regulations to drive the bank's mission, vision and culture and support the definition and execution of the group's overall strategy.
  • Assist the Vice President‑Regulatory Management in other activities as needed and directed.

• College degree or higher in Management, Banking or Finance, preferably with certification in compliance, corporate governance, risk management or internal audit.
• At least 5 years of business experience preferably in compliance and/or audit in banks.
• Prior experience in dealing with regulators of the region.
• Excellent understanding of regional laws and regulations.
• Excellent knowledge of operational risks in different business banking functions.
• Excellent project management skills with strong control.
• Strong interpersonal, people management and facilitation skills with good leadership skills.
• Preferably bilingual; fluent in English and Arabic with strong written and verbal skills.
• Focused on driving tasks to completion with pace while retaining a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Discreet and possesses a sense of integrity, handling highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
