About the Job:

Assist the department’s manager in the planning, organization, and control of activities related to major marine projects to ensure provision of considerations to all matters of concern. Support and provide other department’s managers with expert advice on technical issues and formulates department’s administrative controls to ensure performance in accordance with policies and senior management direction.

The Superintendent will coordinate and use the best practices in Fleet Management. Daily coordination with his subordinate of the Management activities of his Fleet vessels. Ensure that the Vessel Management complies with Local, International, OPCOs, and Port Rules, Regulations and Standards. Ensures that the Fleet Management follows Company IMS which covers with ISM Code and ISO
- Standards. Reports directly to Vice President on a day-to-day activity of the fleet and any other marine services to Clients.

Job Specific Accountabilities
  • Provide expert advice and support to marine related business development plans to ensure delivery of cost-effective marine services in accordance with approved objectives and strategy direction.
  • Oversee the safety of marine activities related to oil fields or terminal operations, encourage, promote HSE culture within team members and project workers, and recognize unsafe work conditions and recommend modifications to work procedures to ensure compliance with approved safety controls and regulations.
  • Provide technical support to marine projects and define requirements to related matters such as strategy for replacement of marine facilities and construction of new service units to ensure specifications and performance provisions in accordance with approved standards.
  • Assist the VP in all related matters and act on his/her behalf to represent the department in task force committees, boards of inquiries within and outside the organization.
  • Review department’s work achievements, analyse performance and prepares progress reports to ensure managers awareness of any deviations from planned schedules and recommends measures for adjustment.
  • Oversee activities related to marine operations, conduct audits, review operational plans, and apply changes if necessary, to improve productivity and work conditions.
  • Evaluate, approve documents, briefs, and reports submitted by other department managers, responds to matters of concern, and recommends actions and modifications to eliminate safety hazards to personnel, operations, and facilities.
  • Represent the organization at local, national, and international meetings and conferences to ensure organization interface with technology and regulatory advances and act on behalf of the organization in negotiations and other official functions.
  • Lead investigation committees for incidents and non-conformities, and formulate contingency plans as well as participate in high scale emergency drills to ensure preparedness in cases of unfortunate events.
  • Plan, organize coaching, and coordinate staff members training and development programs to ensure succession of roles and responsibilities as per approved policies.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree / HND-HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years in relevant field of activities preferably Merchant Navy, Royal Navy, Navigation Systems.
Professional Certifications

Knowledge of Marine International Rules (STCW, ISM, ISO).
