Job Description
This position is responsible for leading, directing and managing all activities of the CNG & Hydrogen Operations department. The role ensures safe, economical, smooth and timely distribution, availability and supply of CNG to company service stations and customer sites throughout the UAE, while effectively utilizing company resources, controlling inventory, maintaining quality and ensuring safe handling of equipment and products.
Job PurposeTo lead, direct and manage activities of CNG & Hydrogen Operations department ensuring safe, economic, smooth and timely distribution, availability and supply of CNG to company service stations and customer sites throughout the UAE. Ensures effective utilization of company resources (manpower, equipment), inventory control, quality control and safe handling of equipment and products.
Responsibilities- Manage, lead and monitor the CNG & Hydrogen operations on daily assigned tasks, and impart required training and mentoring to team members.
- Plan, direct, coordinate and supervise operational activities and assigned personnel, performing management functions as established by senior management.
- Manage Gas Purchase Agreements (GSA) with main gas suppliers, including joint meter reading, GRN’s and calibration of custody‑transfer equipment.
- Liaise with gas suppliers to ensure product availability and maintain product quality in line with company distribution guidelines.
- Review daily CNG & Hydrogen operations to ensure efficient product storage, receipt and pipeline delivery; maintain stock loss/gain within agreed limits; conduct daily inventory analysis and reporting for CNG stocks, consumables and spares on a timely basis.
- Develop, lead, maintain and implement CNG & Hydrogen Operations Standards, Procedures and Specifications, applying latest approved technologies and ensuring compliance with international standards and company regulations.
- Ensure all safety precautions are taken and Permit‑to‑Work procedures are followed before commencement of work; adhere to instructions during all stages of work at CNG stations.
- Stay conversant with international developments in natural gas, CNG technology and CNG trailer operations; investigate, benchmark and implement best practices.
- Provide technical support and training to supervisors and operators for safe operation of CNG & Hydrogen stations.
- Approve maintenance and shutdown of CNG & Hydrogen plants and fueling stations, ensuring procedures are followed to maintain operational reliability, availability and optimal utilisation.
- Review operation and maintenance projects to ensure correct planning, organization, supervision and that facilities delivered are safe and reliable.
- Lead upgrade and development of company infrastructure and existing CNG & Hydrogen facilities; identify needs, communicate with Head Office, coordinate with EPD, ensure proper commissioning of new or overhauled equipment, and participate in project reviews such as HAZOP, HSEIA and HAZID.
- Monitor quality and progress of contractor work; identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions; evaluate potential contractors and suppliers.
- Oversee distribution planning and management to ensure prompt delivery of products; act as Authorizing Engineer for CNG stations and trailer operations, support emergency response, and ensure effective accident investigation.
- Monitor budget, review manpower and operating expenses, transport costs and inventory losses; develop initiatives to increase productivity and reduce overall cost.
- Organise and manage operational audits; incorporate approved recommendations.
- Review and propose change‑of‑management recommendations to senior management; liaise with statutory bodies such as Civil Defence and ESMA.
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical/Mechanical or related discipline.
- 10–12 years of experience in CNG plant operations and maintenance, including 3–4 years in managerial responsibilities.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- High problem‑solving and decision‑making ability.
- Effective planning and organisational capabilities.
- Good knowledge of English;
Arabic is a positive advantage. - Valid UAE driving licence is an advantage.
Work Environment:
Approximately 40% outdoors.
