Maintenance Manager
The maintenance facility is responsible for all rolling stock assets, the duty Maintenance Manager is responsible for all day‑to‑day management of this facility and ensuring all rolling stock maintenance is carried out in accordance with the maintenance plan and to the highest standard.
He/she shall have oversight of all activities being undertaken, both from in‑house maintenance staff and/or contracted service providers; ensuring safety rules and processes are adhered to at all times.
He/she shall work on shift basis assigned to lead one of the maintenance teams, the position assumes full responsibility of the activities being undertaken on shift, ensuring all activities are executed in a coordinated, efficient and integrated manner. Liaising with depot controllers, operational control, maintenance planners and the asset reliability team as required.
Responsible for ensuring the team delivers the required throughput against the plan and service commitments.
Gathers and provides any evidence, information or data as required by management and the Contract Manager to support claims for warranty and contractual non‑compliances of any third parties and/or contracted services.
Take a lead role in continually developing and improving the company’s quality management system and its management processes.
Roles and Responsibility- The primary point of contact for all day to day matters related to rolling stock maintenance and activities within the General Maintenance Building.
- Ensure all work is carried out the highest standards.
- Management of the rolling stock maintenance team, inclusive of rostering, leave, sickness cover etc.
- Responsible for planning and coordinating all maintenance execution works, liaising with the maintenance planners and the operational control centre to ensure work is delivered as per plan and against service commitments.
- Managing and deploying maintenance resource to ensure requirements of the maintenance plan and any casualty repairs are met.
- Ensure records and work order management is correct and up to date and with full utilisation of the Asset Management System SAP.
- Responsible for reporting on and ensuring all departmental KPIs are met.
- Ensure relevant rules, policies, processes and procedures are up to date adhered to by staff.
- Ensuring adequate risk management and control measures are in place.
- Management, review and investigation of any non‑conformances.
- Motivating, mentoring and development of work force.
- Engage in a Continuous Improvement culture, fully engaging in the process of sharing best practice.
- Be responsible for your own, and others safety.
Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering specialism, or significant maintenance and operational experience in a senior engineering role.
Professional Qualifications- Apprentice trained and/or relevant engineering qualifications
- Full driving license
- Extensive experience and background in railway maintenance and operation.
- Extensive management and/or supervisory experience of running a maintenance facility.
- Has knowledge and understanding of the key requirements of managing contracted service providers.
- Experience in managing multifunctional and diverse teams
- Experience in quality management and asset management systems
- Working in harsh environments
- Proven ability to work under pressure
- Good leadership skills
- Very good communication skills
- Very good planning skills
- Ability to work in a team and on an individual basis
- English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skill
