Animal Health Senior Manager

About the Role

The Senior Hospital Manager oversees the operations, staff and equipment of the Sea World Abu Dhabi Veterinary Hospitals, ensuring high‑quality veterinary care, timely animal health support and compliance with regulatory and safety standards. They lead a team of Veterinary Technologists, manage daily workflow, staff supervision, training, financial and procurement oversight and coordinate with Animal Health and Welfare operations.

• Lead day‑to‑day hospital operations, including active floor presence and workflow oversight.
• Act as escalation point for operational, technical and workflow issues.
• Ensure hospital procedures follow approved SOPs and clinical expectations.
• Develop and implement department goals and communicate results.
• Maintain hospital discipline, safety practices, equipment functionality and quality standards.
• Monitor KPIs, settle financial matters, and control procurement and budget.
• Plan and conduct audits, risk management and quality control checks.
• Lead accreditation processes and government licensing requirements.
• Coordinate revenue‑generating services and collaborate with education department on programming.

• Line‑manage Veterinary Technologists: roster, workload distribution, supervision and performance oversight.
• Ensure staff competency, training and adherence to scopes of practice.
• Provide coaching, feedback and corrective guidance.
• Support staff development and succession planning.
• Hire, onboard and conduct performance reviews for direct reports.
• Promote colleague recognition and motivation.
• Maintain compliance with area SOPs and update job descriptions.
• Coordinate continuing education and licensing.
• Participate in research studies and publications.

• Ensure accuracy, timeliness and consistency of hospital equipment and preventive maintenance.
• Maintain inventory and oversee procurement communications.
• Audit pharmaceutical and controlled drug registers.
• Maintain equipment warranties, service contracts and asset registers.
• Support wildlife rehabilitation programs.
• Utilize computerized medical record systems efficiently.
• Manage chemical usage in the park.

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Veterinary Care, Veterinary Practice Management or related health‑care administration.
• Minimum ten years of experience in the veterinary or medical field.
• At least five years of experience in a leadership position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
• Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs (20 kg) and perform repetitive motions.
• Desirable certifications:
  Certified Veterinary Technician/Nurse, Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).
• Membership in WAZA or equivalent association preferred.
• Zoo experience and familiarity with conservation efforts preferred.
