About

The Role

The Senior Hospital Manager oversees the operations, staff, and equipment of the Sea World Abu Dhabi Veterinary Hospitals, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality veterinary care and supporting animal health, welfare, and conservation. The role leads a team of Veterinary Technologists, supervises workflow, staff training, and professional development, and maintains compliance with SOPs, safety, regulatory and financial standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee day‑to‑day hospital operations and maintain active presence on the floor
  • Manage workflows, procedure schedules and communicate results across disciplines
  • Act as primary escalation point for operational, technical, and workflow issues
  • Ensure hospital procedures align with approved SOPs and clinical expectations
  • Assist with development and implementation of area and department goals
  • Communicate professionally with park‑wide colleagues and serve as liaison between veterinarians and support staff
  • Demonstrate commitment to company values and safety
  • Participate in medical procedures as required
  • Prepare financial statements and monitor key performance indicators, fees and petty cash
  • Coordinate external services, contractors, consultants and government agencies
  • Conduct team meetings and attend park leadership meetings
  • Support mission and organizational initiatives
  • Plan audits, risk management and quality control checks
  • Lead accreditation processes and government licensing requirements
  • Oversee revenue‑generating services and collaborate with education department on programming needs
Colleague Development & Supervision
  • Line‑manage Veterinary Technologists: roster, workload distribution, supervision and performance oversight
  • Ensure staff competency, training and adherence to scopes of practice
  • Provide coaching, feedback and corrective guidance
  • Support staff development and succession planning with department leadership
  • Hire and onboard new colleagues in collaboration with Animal Health and Welfare Director and talent acquisition
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports
  • Develop and promote colleague recognition and motivation initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with area SOPs, including animal husbandry protocols
  • Update area SOPs with input from veterinary technicians, laboratory and nutrition teams
  • Promote a team environment and assist with CE and licensing coordination
  • Maintain job descriptions and employee files
  • Participate in research studies and academic publications
Animal Health Operations
  • Maintain accuracy, timeliness and consistency of equipment and preventative maintenance schedules
  • Manage inventory and conduct departmental procurement
  • Oversee pharmaceutical and controlled drug registers, including audits
  • Ensure supply needs and equipment maintenance are met
  • Assist with budget preparation and monitoring
  • Support wildlife rehabilitation programs
  • Maintain asset registers, warranties and service contracts
  • Ensure effective use of computerized medical record systems
  • Coordinate chemical usage with Animal Health and Welfare Director
  • Provide direct management for employees and applicable indirect staff
  • Develop safety protocols relevant to Animal Health
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Veterinary Care, Practice Management or related fields
  • At least ten years of experience in the veterinary or medical field
  • Minimum five years of leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays
