Job Purpose

Provide geological operations support for Biogenic‑Shallow Gas Project wells, including exploration, appraisal and development drilling projects and G&G related activities. Oversee geological operations for the active drilling program, interpret subsurface data, integrate well logs and drilling data, and ensure well objectives are met. Interpret drilling reports to assess potential geologic hazards and provide geological input for planned wells, implementing geological marker prognosis and well programs.

Job

Specific Accountabilities (Part
1)
  • Prepare pre‑drill job preparations, such as offset well correlation panels; attend pre‑spud or peer meetings; ensure service contractors provide tools operating at optimum capabilities using cost‑effective methods to meet well objectives.
  • Provide technical support and quality oversight for wellsite geology processes, including mud logging, LWD/MWD, wireline logging, coring, directional drilling, and stimulation.
  • Offer expertise for planning, execution and look‑back analysis for all wells drilled in the vicinity or offset wells, including horizontal wells; collaborate with project geologist/geomodeler and geophysicist to minimize geological uncertainty and incorporate geological input into well markers and prognosis.
  • Plan, advise and supervise well design, mud logging data acquisition, conventional coring, MWD/LWD, wireline logging, advanced formation evaluation tools, drilling operation, testing & stimulation, and geological markers, integrating them into well prognosis and execution.
  • Collaborate with geomechanics specialist, reservoir and drilling engineer to apply pore pressure theory and techniques needed to assess pore pressure, fracture gradient and wellbore stability, advising on appropriate well design.
  • Perform real‑time monitoring and interpretation of data acquired while drilling, integrating these data for decisions; interpret drilling reports to assess potential geologic hazards and tops selection.
  • Maintain open and close communication with project geologist/geomodeler, petrophysicist, drilling & petroleum engineer, OPCOs operation geologist and drilling team during vertical, deviated & horizontal drilling operations following the chain of command.
  • Oversee sample examination, cuttings collection, petrophysical analysis and logs, geochemical data acquisition, perforation, testing & stimulation plans in close coordination with project G&G, petrophysicist, drilling & petroleum engineering and OPCOs staff.
  • Monitor well trajectory plan versus actual and reservoir geology to ensure the well is on target; provide geological interpretation, strati graphic correlation, marker determination and quick look log interpretation of hydrocarbon zones while drilling; determine casing point, coring point, logging point, landing point and final well TD; collaborate with OPCOs operations geologist and geosteering specialist from the service provider to geosteer highly deviated and horizontal wells on a 24/7 basis.
  • Provide correlation panel and cross‑section as requested by the project team; coordinate and QC geological data acquisition while drilling; maintain daily/weekly reporting system for updating progress and provide technical inputs for regular management reports.
Job Specific Accountabilities (Part
2)
  • Contribute to selection of candidate intervals for perforation, testing and stimulation, integrating all subsurface data including well logs, gas‑while‑drilling and more, in collaboration with project petrophysicist, reservoir engineer and geomechanics specialist.
  • Coordinate coring jobs from the planning stage, recommend core points, establish core acquisition strategy, and manage core handling & transportation from site to core store efficiently and safely.
  • Finalize markers and surveys with project geologist/geomodeler and petrophysicist; collaborate with OPCOs operations geologist to upload files into corporate folders/datasets.
  • Provide Geological End‑of‑Well Reports or Post‑Drilling Summary Reports for wells drilled.
  • Support and work closely with the project team to optimize development plans, including well locations, PAD drilling planning, trajectory review…
