Investigate the origin, composition, geometry and distribution of sedimentary deposits across Abu Dhabi's exploration areas. Combine core descriptions, thin-section petrography, scanning electron microscopy and multidisciplinary subsurface data to interpret depositional environments, identify prospective reservoir facies and provide inputs to petroleum systems models, exploration prospects and well proposals.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate sedimentological evaluations within exploration workflows, integrating geological, geophysical, petrophysical, petroleum engineering and well information.
- Direct core description, thin-section examination, scanning electron microscopy, petrography, petrology and lithostratigraphic studies.
- Develop, validate and update paleo-depositional models, environmental maps and associated geological interpretations.
- Review historical studies, identify data gaps and commission focused investigations where additional evidence is required.
- Prepare sedimentological datasets for petroleum systems modelling, verify legacy inputs and incorporate new information into alternative modelling scenarios.
- Contribute geological interpretations to prospect volumetrics, exploration risk assessments, portfolio evaluations and prospect maturation.
- Assess the quality and accuracy of consultant studies and communicate findings to relevant technical teams.
- Review sedimentological contributions to strati graphic, geophysical and petrophysical studies undertaken internally or by third parties.
- Coordinate quality control, calibration and updating of corporate exploration databases using information from service providers, Group Companies, joint ventures and other partners.
- Identify useful developments in geological software, modelling technology and technical methods; support justifications for suitable software and hardware acquisitions.
- Propose geological data exchanges with relevant organizations in neighboring countries and emirates to strengthen regional interpretations.
