Structures Supervisor
Purpose and ScopeThis is a temporary 90‑day contract position in Abu Dhabi to perform supervision responsibilities and performance of inspecting, maintaining and repairing structural components to include pre‑engineered permanent, semi‑permanent and temporary facilities such as tension fabric shelters, trailer offices, lodging and water closets, metal ladders, stairs, railings, and structures for air conditioning units to support the mission on Al Dhafra Air Base in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP).
EssentialResponsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair all assigned doors, structural components, roofing systems, floor systems, foundations, gutter systems and surface coverings.
- Perform metal and fabric repair, fabrication work, welding support (oxy/acetylene cutting, corrosion control, pavement painting and striping, using form work for concrete).
- Remodel, refurbish or demolish existing facilities.
- Install, maintain and repair protective coatings, sealants, epoxies, glues, paints and fencing.
- Carry out major interior finish repairs such as replacement or repair of acoustic ceiling tile and sheetrock ceilings and walls.
- Perform routine inspections and carpentry installation/repairs: whole door replacement, door handles, hinges and closers; flooring repair including sub‑floor; interior facility repairs; drywall repair (from replacement to finish, mud, sand and paint); repair/replace roofing materials.
- Perform routine inspections and masonry installation/repairs: CMU (Concrete Masonry Units), brick construction, tile applications, concrete forms.
- Perform routine inspections and sheet‑metal installation/repairs: duct work, metal patchwork (excluding ducts), rollup doors.
- Perform routine inspections and welding installation/repairs: welding, cutting, blazing.
- Perform routine inspections and tension fabric systems (TFS) installation/repairs with general knowledge of tent systems.
Skills and Abilities
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
- Minimum 8 years of experience with at least 5 years of proven leadership in construction.
- Preferred:
Construction Safety and Health Professional OSHA certification. - Ability to read and write English is required.
- Solid communications skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem‑solving skills and sound judgment.
- Possession of a valid state‑issued driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Working conditions include temperatures over 100°F, frequent lifting of items weighing 40‑45pounds (occasionally over 50pounds), climbing to over 12feet and using lifts to access over 24feet. Manual and electrical hand tools are used. Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, vibration, wet or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather; extreme cold; and possible electrical shock.
The noise level is usually loud. Long hours with exposure to weather and hazardous conditions. Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions. Ability to travel domestically and internationally is required.
