Diesel Mechanic

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, disassemble, service, rebuild, overhaul, and repair a variety of heavy wheeled vehicles.
• Ensure all heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections, servicing, rebuilds, overhauls, and repairs are accomplished in accordance with all technical manuals, KPIs, and OEM specifications.
• Perform quality maintenance repairs as part of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System program.
• Conduct heavy wheeled vehicle maintenance inspections to determine the extent of repair and spare parts requirements.
• Perform heavy wheeled vehicle troubleshooting using special tools and diagnostic test equipment.
• Replace heavy wheeled vehicle major assemblies – engines, transmissions, transfer cases, diffials and sub‑assemblies, starters, alternators, generators, and pumps.
• Ensure all maintenance order spare parts residue is returned to the Workshop store.
• Conduct heavy wheeled vehicle spare parts research to ensure that only required spare parts are requisitioned in the appropriate quantities.
• Complete maintenance‑related documentation such as maintenance tasks accomplished, direct labour hours consumed, vehicle‑specific information, spare‑part request forms, etc.
• Comply with all safety, housekeeping, and environmental directives.
• Ensure all issued tools, uniforms, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are accounted for, maintained, and secured.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
• Support other members of the Workshop in fulfilling their roles.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or as required by the Workshop.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience performing scheduled and/or unscheduled maintenance on heavy wheeled vehicles.
• Previous experience or automotive training is an advantage.
• Ability to interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic schematics preferred.
• Previous experience using diagnostic testing equipment is an advantage.
