Overview & Responsibilities
We are seeking an expert Welder to join our state‑of‑the‑art facility in the KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi. This role is dedicated to recommending and implementing specialized welding protocols that meet both company (Elliott) requirements and customer specifications for a wide range of turbo machinery. As a senior technical authority on the shop floor, you will perform complex plan layouts and unusual welding operations in a safe and timely manner.
The Welder will plan and oversee their own work with very minimal supervision while actively helping to train and develop other employees within the department.
Technical Welding & Repairs
- Gain and maintain certifications in TIG, MIG, submerged arc, and heliarc welding processes.
- Perform expert weld repairs on diaphragms using both Inconel and stainless steel, including partitions, split‑lines, side walls, seal faces and fits, set‑backs, ledge blocks, and crush pins.
- Execute welding operations on ferrous and non‑ferrous metals.
- Perform stress relieving and non‑destructive testing (NDT) according to strict engineering specifications.
Layout & Planning
- Execute complex plan layouts and perform non‑standard welding operations to meet unique customer needs.
Equipment, Rigging & Maintenance
- Utilize heating and cutting torches, plasma cutting, cut‑off saws, and steam cleaners.
- Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, and other necessary equipment.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of lifting, rigging, crane, and forklift operations to move heavy turbo machinery components safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
Documentation, Quality & Leadership
- Read and comprehend complex engineering drawings, sketches, work scopes, and verbal instructions.
- Process critical documentation, including inspection reports, photo logs, and hold tags.
- Use measuring devices with advanced accuracy.
- Help train hourly employees in weld processes and procedures.
- Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to maintain continuity between work shifts.
- Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for better efficiency and production adaptability.
- Represent the company professionally when working with internal and external customers.
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- 8–10 years of experience specifically with rotating turbo machinery (turbines, compressors, and pumps).
- Advanced TIG and MIG welding capabilities.
- Advanced rigging and lifting capabilities.
- Advanced measurement and layout capabilities.
- Strong background in welding/fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to work with very minimal supervision or feedback.
- Proficiency in using appropriate equipment, tooling, drawings, and specifications.
- Commitment to updating job knowledge through educational materials, training, and technical publications.
- Willingness to accept ownership for new and different requests and explore opportunities to accomplish organizational goals.
This is a full‑time, on‑site permanent position based out of our Repair Facility in KEZAD Free Zone, Abu Dhabi.
