Purpose of the RoleThe Pipe Fitter in Firefighting Systems is responsible for the fabrication, installation, testing, and maintenance of GI pipes, HDPE pipes and associated assemblies for firefighting and fire protection systems. This includes sprinkler systems, hydrant lines, hose reel systems, and fire pump connections, ensuring compliance with approved drawings and fire safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Install, align, assemble, and support pipes for fire sprinkler, hydrant, and firefighting systems.
- Read and interpret firefighting system drawings, layouts, and isometric plans.
- Measure, cut, thread, and groove pipes using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Identify and use the appropriate tools and machinery and their operating ranges.
- Install valves, fittings, hangers, supports, and accessories as per specifications.
- Conduct pressure testing and assist in commissioning of firefighting systems.
- Identify and rectify pipe leaks, misalignments, and installation issues.
- Follow safety procedures and use PPE while working on-site.
- Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure timely completion of work.
- Maintain tools and ensure proper housekeeping at the work site.
- ITI or Trade Certificate in Pipe Fitting, Plumbing, or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Pipe Fitter, preferably in firefighting or fire protection systems.
- Knowledge of sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, hose reel systems, and fire pump connections.
- Familiarity with MS, GI, and other piping materials used in fire protection systems.
- Ability to read technical drawings and follow instructions.
- Strong understanding of piping tools and installation techniques.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work at heights.
- Team‑oriented with good communication skills.
Site‑based work with possible travel to project locations; may involve heights, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions. Flexible working hours based on project requirements.
Additional RequirementsCandidates are preferred who live in or near Delhi and NCR, have experience installing MS and GI firefighting pipes, and are ready to receive training in threading, grooving, mechanical tee joining, hemming, and pipe cutting. A trade certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in pipe fitting or the plumber trade is required.
