Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

• Inspecting and assessing the work done by the electrical staff
• Reading and interpreting design schematics to ensure the proper installation of electrical systems
• Designing, implementing, and inspecting work and work schedules for the electrical team
• Overseeing the purchasing and maintenance of electrical equipment on‑site
• Ensuring work is completed on schedule and to code
• Maintaining a safe and clean work area
• Performing preventative maintenance on various electrical equipment
• Installing and maintaining electrical equipment, motors, and electric panels; laying out wires in lighting systems
• Performing general and preventive maintenance on electrical systems
• Ensuring all installations are done in accordance with set standards
• Responding to emergency situations to resolve issues immediately
• Handling maintenance of tools and equipment, replacing faulty or expired parts in an electrical system

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field
• Proven work experience as an electrical supervisor
• Strong leadership and managerial skills
• In‑depth knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with state electrical and safety codes
• Advanced troubleshooting skills
• Basic computer skills
• A good eye for detail
• Knowledge of commercial electrical systems, blueprints
• Ability to repair systems
• Ability to operate electric motors safely
• Knowledge of standard parts and catalogs used by electrical distributors
• Knowledge of rules of safety, especially as they relate to electrical work
