Mechanic - MTU Series

Perform diagnostics, overhaul, repair, and preventive maintenance of diesel engines and associated systems used in marine, power generation, and industrial applications. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with MTU and company quality standards.

• Carry out major overhauls, servicing, maintenance, and repairs of MTU Series 538 diesel engines and related systems.
• Diagnose mechanical failures, drivability issues, and equipment faults, recommending and implementing effective repairs.
• Operate and interpret computerized diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot engine and system performance.
• Perform preventive maintenance activities in line with manufacturer and company standards.
• Prepare accurate parts requirements and material lists for assigned jobs.
• Complete job cards, time bookings, service reports, and failure reports in a timely manner.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment safely and correctly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring proper housekeeping standards.
• Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, reporting any defects or damage.
• Comply with all quality, environmental, health, and safety (QHSE) requirements and company policies.
• Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure projects and service activities are completed on schedule.
• Stay current with technical developments, products, and industry best practices through continuous learning and training.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical/vocational qualification in Mechanical or Diesel Engine Technology.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in diesel engine overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Hands‑on experience working with MTU Series 538 engines
  ; experience with marine, power generation, or industrial engines is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of engine diagnostics, mechanical systems, and preventive maintenance practices.
• Familiarity with MTU service standards and workshop procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and service documentation.
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Safety‑conscious with a proactive approach to risk management.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Team player with good communication skills.
