Responsible for planning, supervising, and optimizing maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities of heavy construction, marine, and workshop equipment to ensure maximum safety, reliability, and operational availability
Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate all daily workshop activities involving maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy equipment, plant machinery, and mobile assets.
- Plan and execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance to maximize equipment availability and reliability.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of excavators, crawler cranes, mobile cranes, dump trucks, bulldozers, wheel loaders, graders, backhoe loaders, forklifts, telehandlers, and other heavy construction equipment.
- Supervise servicing of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, axles, final drives, pumps, compressors, generators, and associated mechanical and electrical systems.
- Coordinate fabrication, welding, machining, line boring, and structural repairs in accordance with OEM specifications and company standards.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise mechanics, electricians, hydraulic technicians, welders, fabricators, and workshop support personnel.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company HSE policies, Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, risk assessments, and safe working procedures.
- Plan manpower allocation, workshop resources, tools, lifting equipment, and maintenance schedules to meet operational and project requirements.
- Diagnose equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce recurring breakdowns.
- Coordinate with Operations, Plant, Marine, Procurement, and Project teams to minimize equipment downtime and support uninterrupted project execution.
- Monitor spare parts inventory, consumables, and critical components, ensuring timely procurement and optimum stock levels.
- Review and approve work orders, maintenance records, inspection reports, equipment history, and workshop documentation using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure workshop tools, lifting appliances, measuring instruments, and testing equipment are maintained, calibrated, and certified.
- Conduct equipment inspections, quality checks, and performance testing prior to releasing machinery back into service.
- Support commissioning, mobilization, demobilization, and field repair activities for construction and marine equipment as required.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance efficiency, productivity, and cost control.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping standards, environmental compliance, waste management, and adherence to statutory regulations within the workshop.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and competency development to workshop personnel while fostering a strong safety culture.
- Liaise with OEM representatives, vendors, and contractors for technical support, warranty claims, specialized repairs, and equipment upgrades.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the department Manager in support of workshop and project operations.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or Automobile Engineering.
Minimum 10 Years's experience with Heavy Earth Moving equipment.
