Mechanic Foreman

The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supervising mechanical maintenance and repair activities for marine engineering machinery, equipment, and systems. The role ensures that assigned vessels are maintained in accordance with marine standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the maintenance of assigned vessels in accordance with mechanical standards, manufacturer requirements, and planned maintenance procedures.
• Perform major and specialized overhauls and repairs on marine engines, compressors, pumps, valves, purifiers, winches, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair marine machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain and update preventive maintenance programs and ensure accurate PMS and AMOS records.
• Support Chief Engineers, Engineers, and vessel teams with mechanical maintenance and repair requirements.
• Determine required parts, materials, and supplies for maintenance and repair activities.
• Support vessel dry-docking activities, including planning, maintenance, repairs, and timely ordering of spares.
• Conduct machinery inspections and ensure planned maintenance activities are completed as scheduled.
• Supervise and provide on-the-job training to junior and workshop personnel.
• Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and SHEQ standards.
• Enforce safe working practices, including lock-out systems, isolation requirements, toolbox talks, permits-to-work, and appropriate PPE.
• Coordinate with the SHEQ Department regarding hazards, risk assessments, control measures, and mechanical non-conformances.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Workshop Supervisor or Technical Manager.

Qualifications

• Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeship or equivalent engineering education.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic or Marine Engineer.
• Experience in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of diesel engines, compressors, pumps, purifiers, valves, and related marine equipment.
• Ability to read and understand operating and service repair manuals in English.
• Knowledge of marine engine room and ship's plant systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, engineering testing, and maintenance skills.
• Basic computer literacy and ability to maintain accurate technical records.
• Good attention to detail and quality focus.
• Good understanding of safety practices and procedures.
