Job Summary:

The Safety Managerleadsandstrengthens Onyx Corporation ’shealthandsafetyprograminsupportofthe

Excavation,Landscape,and Materials divisions.

Thisrolepartnerswithcompanyleadership,project managers,superintendents,supervisors,andfieldemployeestoidentifyhazards,reduce risk,maintainregulatorycompliance,andbuildaproactivesafetyculture.

The Safety Managerprovidespractical ,field-focusedguidanceforexcavation,earthwork,utilities,site development,landscaping,trucking,materialproductionandhandling,andrelatedoperations.

Thispositionownsthecompany’sDOTcomplianceprogram,supports workers’compensationclaimsmanagementandreturn-to-work efforts,andsupervisesonedirectreport.

The Safety Managerprovideshands -on training,mentorship,andprofessionaldevelopmenttohelpthatemployeegrowwithinthesafetyprofession.

• Leadthedevelopment,implementation,andcontinuousimprovementof
  
  Onyx Corporation’shealthandsafetyprogramsacrossthe
  
  Excavation,Landscape,and Materials divisions,includingjobsites,yards,shops,and offices.
• Serveasavisiblefieldleaderbyregularlyvisitingjobsites,engaging employees,identifying hazards,andpartneringwithoperationstoimplementpracticalcorrectiveactions.
• Providesafetyguidanceforheavycivilactivities,includingexcavationandtrenching,cut-to-fill earthwork,underground utilities,site development,heavy equipment,trucking,blasting,crushing,andmaterialhandling.
• Superviseonedirectreportandprovideclearexpectations,regular feedback,hands-on training,mentoring,anddevelopmentopportunitiestosupportcontinuedgrowthinthesafetyprofession.
• Coachprojectmanagers,superintendents,foremen,andsupervisorsonsafeworkplanning,jobhazardanalyses,toolbox talks,employee engagement,andconsistentenforcementofsafetyexpectations.
• Lead incident,injury,near-miss,and property-damage investigations;identifyrootcauses;assigncorrectiveactions;andverifytimelycompletion.
• Conductanddocumentjobsiteinspectionsandsafetyaudits,track trends,andworkwithoperationsleadershiptoresolvedeficiencies.
• Develop,deliver,andcoordinatesafetytrainingforemployeesandsupervisors,including new-hi reorientation,task-specific instruction,andrefreshertraining.
• Maintainsafetyrecords,training documentation,keyperformanceindicators,andmanagementreportstomonitorcomplianceanddrivemeasurableimprovement.
• Ownandadminister Onyx Corporation ’sDOTcomplianceprogram,includingdriverqualificationfiles,requiredregistrationsandrecords,drugandalcoholtestingprogramcoordination,vehicleanddrivercompliance,audits,corrective actions,andapplicablereporting.
  
  AdviseoperationsonOSHA,MSHA,DOT,andotherfederal,state,andlocalrequirements,andrepresentthecompanyduringinspections,investigations,andregulatoryinquiries.
• Partner with Human Resources ,insurance representatives,medical providers,andcompanyleadershipintheadministrationofworkers’compensation claims,includingtimelyreporting,investigation,documentation,claim follow-up,return-to-work planning,andcoordinationofmodified-duty assignments.
• Performotherrelateddutiesasassigned.

• Strongworkingknowledgeofhealthandsafetyprinciples,programs,policies,procedures,andregulatoryrequirementsapplicabletoheavycivilconstruction.
• Demonstratedabilitytolead,coach,train,anddevelopemployeesandinfluencesafebehaviorsatalllevelsoftheorganization.
• Thoroughunderstandingofheavycivilconstructionmeansandmethods,jobsitehazards,andeffectivecontrols.
• StrongknowledgeofOSHAstandardsanddemonstratedexperienceowningoradministeringDOTcomplianceprograms;familiaritywithMSHArequirementsapplicabletocompanyoperations.
• Abilitytoconducteffectiveinvestigations,identifyrootcauses,analyzesafetydata,andfollowcorrectiveactionsthroughcompletion.
